The Bank of America Chicago Marathon contributes an estimated $243.46 million in total business activity to the Chicago economy, according to a new economic impact report. The independent study was conducted by University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Regional Economics Applications Laboratory and announced today by Bank of America. Bank of America today announced that John (Jack) Ovel has been named Kansas City market president. Ovel succeeds Spence Heddens, who led the market for seven years and will continue in his role as senior philanthropic manager for U.S. Trust Philanthropic Solutions.

Through its Community Development Banking business, Bank of America Merrill Lynch provided more than $1.6 billion in loans, tax credit equity investments and other real estate development solutions in the first half of 2013. Those commitments were double the lending and investing for the same period in 2012 and will help create more than 6,500 affordable housing units.

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon will recognize John Nichols, president of the Chicago-based Disability Resource Group, Inc., as the third annual recipient of the Richard M. Daley and Maggie Daley Award. The award was established in 2010 to honor the Bank of America Chicago Marathon participant who raised the most funds for charity through the annual world-class event.

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon today announced that two-time U.S. Olympian Matt Tegenkamp will take on the 26.2-mile distance for the first time at the event’s 36th running on Sunday, October 13. The 31-year-old native of Lee’s Summit, Mo., has been one of the country’s most decorated track athletes for the past decade. Anisa Khalique, 13 from Mulberry School for Girls in Tower Hamlets, has been named the winner of the 2013 Student Presentation Skills Final supported by Bank of America Merrill Lynch in association with the education charity Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership (THEBP).

The event is part of a wider course of education and employability activities run by Bank of America Merrill Lynch and THEBP – the Financial Education and Employability Programme (FEE).

Since then, the event staff has been working to develop the best possible solution to offer the remaining 15,000 entries.
