The Bank of America Chicago Marathon contributes an estimated $243.46 million in total business activity to the Chicago economy, according to a new economic impact report. The Bank of America Chicago Marathon will recognize John Nichols, president of the Chicago-based Disability Resource Group, Inc., as the third annual recipient of the Richard M. Daley and Maggie Daley Award. The award was established in 2010 to honor the Bank of America Chicago Marathon participant who raised the most funds for charity through the annual world-class event.

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon today announced that two-time U.S. Olympian Matt Tegenkamp will take on the 26.2-mile distance for the first time at the event’s 36th running on Sunday, October 13. The 31-year-old native of Lee’s Summit, Mo., has been one of the country’s most decorated track athletes for the past decade. The Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K today announced that U.S. Olympian Lisa Uhl will lace up her racing shoes for her first competition in Chicago. Uhl, along with fellow Team USA member Dathan Ritzenhein, will lead the way for 40,000 runners in Chicago’s 34th annual kickoff to the running season on Sunday, April 7.

Registration for the 2013 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K, the world’s largest 8-kilometer road race, closed today when the 40,000-participant capacity was reached, matching the largest field of registrants in the event’s 34-year history. Registration for the 2013 Bank of America Chicago Marathon was suspended due to technical issues on Tuesday, February 19. Since then, the event staff has been working to develop the best possible solution to offer the remaining 15,000 entries. On Tuesday, March 5, registration for the 2013 Bank of America Chicago Marathon will reopen as a lottery.
