BANK OF AMERICA
Today, Bank of America Merrill Lynch opens applications for its inaugural Returning Talent programme in Dublin. Individuals who have been out of work for 12 months or longer – for example stay-at-home parents or carers, or someone who has chosen to take a career break – are invited to apply via Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Careers site. The two-day conference will take place on 24 and 25 May 2017. The application closing date is 21 April 2017.
Bank of America Merrill Lynch, in partnership with the Executive Coaching Consultancy, is looking to attract individuals from a range of industry backgrounds, including professional and financial services and technology organisations, with experience in (but not limited to) finance, business, project or relationship management; banking operations; and technology. The company is specifically looking to source suitable candidates from the programme to fill positions in their Dublin-based Technology and Operations team. Roles include: developers; business and operations analysts; and project and operations managers.
Six years ago, Bank of America Merrill Lynch pioneered one of the first Returner programmes in the UK. Seven programmes later, almost 300 women and men have participated to date, with many going on to secure roles at Bank of America Merrill Lynch or at other firms. The company’s inaugural Dublin programme will give 25 participants the opportunity to attend a two-day conference on the 24 and 25 May 2017, aimed at exploring the changing workplace and the role of the returning employee in this office environment. Participants will hear from guest speakers and join a series of workshops designed to support a transition back to work; offer practical guidance on focusing and managing a career search; provide interview skills and insights into balancing work and home lives; and give access to executive coaching. There will also be opportunities for participants to start building their professional connections through a series of networking opportunities with banking employees.
Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s progress in this area, as well as its ongoing commitment to develop female talent, won it the 2015 Workingmums.co.uk Top Employer Award for Career Progression. The company was also recognised as Euromoney’s World Best Bank for Diversity 2016, and ranks on the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index 2017.
Commenting on the inaugural Dublin Returning Talent programme, Peter Keegan, country executive for Ireland at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of our Returning Talent programme in Dublin. Holding it here in Ireland is not only testament to the programme’s success in London and Chester where, as in Dublin, we have substantial Global Technology and Operations teams, it also demonstrates the value and importance we place on identifying strong and diverse talent across our local business. Through initiatives such as this, we are able to give people at all stages of their lives and careers, the support, confidence and skills to prosper, and the inspiration to succeed in the financial services marketplace. We look forward to welcoming the Dublin participants.”
Nicola Salvatore, a 2015 Returning Talent participant who has since joined the company’s Banking and Markets Operations team, said: “For me, one of the biggest benefits of the programme was meeting other people in the same position. Having been out of the workplace for five years, I was beginning to feel quite isolated. My conversations with senior managers at the bank and other people working there, including returners, were a real eye-opener, and it was great to have an opportunity to ask questions about their own experiences.”
