James DeMare is president of Global Markets for Bank of America, and is member of the company’s executive management team. He also oversees Commercial Real Estate Lending. He is a member of the Global Banking and Markets Management Committee and Operating Committee, and co-chairs the Global Markets Risk Committee. In addition, DeMare serves on the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Committee in which he partners with leaders across the company to achieve sustainable financing goals inclusive of deploying capital and investment products to clients.
Prior to assuming his current role, DeMare was co-head of Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) Trading. Prior to that, he served as head of Global Securitized Products. He joined Bank of America in 2008 and has been responsible for trading, origination, securitization and risk management activities covering a broad range of asset classes within the fixed income business. Before joining Bank of America, DeMare was responsible for Global Mortgage Trading at Citigroup. In his 11 years at Citigroup and its predecessor, Salomon Brothers, he held numerous senior trading positions.
Active within the organization and community to drive diversity and inclusion, DeMare serves as a trustee for Prep for Prep, which is a leadership development program for diverse students to provide access to education, mentorships and jobs. In addition, he co-sponsors Developing and Engaging African American Leaders (DEAL), which is a Global Banking and Markets Employee Network focused on hiring, promotion and retention of African American and Black talent. DeMare also serves on the Dean’s Council at Weill Cornell Medicine.
DeMare graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Skidmore College.
