James DeMare is president of Global Markets for Bank of America, and is member of the company’s executive management team.
In this role, DeMare oversees all aspects of the company’s Global Markets business, inclusive of equity and fixed income sales and trading efforts, client coverage on a global basis as well as Global Commercial Real Estate. He also chairs the Global Markets Risk Committee and serves on the bank’s Sustainable Markets Committee and the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Committee, in which he partners with leaders across the company to achieve sustainable financing goals inclusive of deploying capital and investment products to clients.
DeMare joined Bank of America in 2008 and has been responsible for trading, origination, securitization and risk management activities, covering a broad range of asset classes within the fixed income business. Prior to his current role, DeMare was co-head of Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) Trading, and previously served as head of Global Securitized Products.
Before joining Bank of America, DeMare was responsible for Global Mortgage Trading at Citigroup. In his 11 years at Citigroup and its predecessor, Salomon Brothers, he held numerous senior trading positions.
Active within the organization and community to drive diversity and inclusion, DeMare co-sponsors Developing and Engaging African American Leaders (DEAL), an Employee Network at Bank of America that is focused on hiring, promotion and retention of African American and Black talent.
He also serves as a trustee for Prep for Prep, a leadership development program that gives diverse students access to education, mentorship and jobs.
DeMare is also a member of the Dean’s Council at Weill Cornell Medicine.
DeMare graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Skidmore College.
