BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research Launches BofAML Data Analytics
Turning Data Into Insight
BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research today announced the launch of BofAML Data Analytics, an effort focused on analyzing big data and using predictive analytics to complement the firm’s award-winning Research product.
“Data has never been so plentiful or easy to access, but the ability to leverage it for actionable investment insights has been a challenging and rare capability until now,” said Candace Browning, head of BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research. “With BofAML Data Analytics, we are combining the best thinking of our experienced research analysts with the power of data to create new ways of answering fundamental questions across sectors, regions and asset classes.”
The BofAML Data Analytics team will work closely with the firm’s research analysts to develop proprietary surveys, indicators, and trackers designed to provide unique, actionable investment ideas to the firm’s clients. Examples include a luxury tourism tracker that uses more than 80 data sets to analyze the luxury goods market; an airline unit revenue indicator with inputs including proprietary data, year-over-year travel agency bookings, airline flight schedules, fuel prices and macroeconomic factors; and a global mobility survey with more than 130,000 responses that seeks to understand consumer attitudes and identify the greatest opportunities with respect to emerging future car themes of electrification, shared mobility, and autonomous vehicles.
